He said he was shocked at Glencore’s first environmental impact statement claim that Precipice aquifer water was unsuitable for livestock and too deep for farmers to use.
“Most people have some sort of bore, stock and domestic or intensive bore, in these aquifers. It is the lifeblood. It is the single most important aspect of agriculture in Queensland.”
Expansion plans for ACC’s feedlots are threatened by the CCS proposal. “And it’s all Precipice water,” he said. “I don’t know how you’d go ahead (if the pilot proceeds) it puts our expansion and also our existing business at risk.”
