11 OCTOBER 2023: We were honoured to host a visit to our Cannon Hill facility by Her Excellency Ines Almeida (pictured centre), Ambassador for the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and Major Mick Stone, the Timor-Leste Honorary Consul in Queensland.
She saw some of her compatriots who work here and watched the Timor-Leste members of the ACC meatworks choir singing their national anthem.
She was visiting with representatives of the FIP group which oversees staff from Timor-Leste employed under the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade PLS scheme, which provides guaranteed full-time employment in Australia for up to four years.
Major Stone, an Australian veteran deployed to the republic in 2000, has been conducting a very successful health and well-being immersion program for former veterans.
