12 AUGUST 2024: It’s been two years since our CEO took the podium at the annual Ekka breakfast keynote address, but Anthony Lee’s speech still resonates.
His memorable 2022 presentation about the need for impactful food and fibre education was referenced three times at this year’s event held in Brisbane last Friday.
James Nason (pictured below), president of the Rural Press Club of Queensland, opened the event with news that Federal agencies have since allocated an initial $150,000 to scope national education offerings.
He said: “It’s really encouraging to see the momentum,” adding: “These events are drawing attention to this crucial issue.”
This year’s speaker, David Harris, CEO of AACo referenced Anthony’s speech in his own address – saying Australian education lacks a structured food and fibre curriculum. “Maybe corporates have to take it up”.
ACC staff spotted at the breakfast were: (L to R) Joel Buningh Sales Support Officer, Joel Bentley GM, Sustainability and Agribusiness and Merrick Studders, Chief Commercial Officer.
David Bailey, GM Feedlots, Opal Creek Feedlot and Peter Snell, Advisory Director.
